Meet Workshop Supervisor David Allison

Workshop Supervisor David Allison has had 15 years of experience at Waternish Engineering but says that no two days ever feel the same.

Having such diversity in his role means that David’s responsibilities include plant and equipment management, risk assessment, logistics, staff management and education, workshop fabrications and supplier liaising among others.

“We’ve delved into areas I’ve never dreamt I would be delving into, and I love that it keeps the role fresh. Seeing the innovations that we collectively bring to the table is really exciting.”

After working as a Jaguar technician for 22 years, David decided he was ready for something different. Starting on the tools as a crew member, David recognised the need for someone to manage the growing demand Waternish was under to consistently deliver larger-scale projects.

That first project as Workshop Supervisor was a turning point for David, with a successful job completed and the support of Managing Director of Waternish, Simon White.

“The support of the team here at Waternish has always been very prevalent and I certainly don’t take that for granted – I think you get the best out of people that way.”

Noting that growth and development are encouraged through education and training at Waternish, David has constantly expanded upon his skillset.

“They really empower people to take challenges on here. It’s been great to be part of the growth and expansion of Waternish; when I started, we had about 15 staff including those in the office and now we have over 40 employees.”

Outside of work, you’ll find David caravanning around Australia, riding his motorbike or spending time with his son.
